I have been awake all night. I can not breathe and I’m not sure if there is more snot waterfalling down my face or down the back of my throat.

I’ve taken every kind of medicine imaginable, eaten four million cough drops, and been through all the tissues. I just want to sleep, please.

Which in turn means that our own atoms are ancient as well. One’s skin could have carbon in it from a meteorite or from a trilobite thousands of years old, and your blood could contain hydrogen from earth’s original atmosphere.
